Falcon - Weapon - 17th c
This falcon type ordnance has a barrel length of 4ft or 1.2 metres. It has a bore diameter of of 2½ Inches (7cm) and is approximately 800lbs in weight or 364kg. The falcon was during the English Civil Wars (1642 –1651) and was useful because it could reach ranges of 1920 yards, (1757m) at 10 degrees elevation and 320 yards (293 Metres) at point blank range. The cannon at Bunratty courtyard is mounted on a modern oak carriage.

During the English Civil Wars, this cannon type could reach ranges of 2650 yards or 2424 Metres at 10 degrees elevation and 460 yards or 422 metres at point blank range. This cannon is now mounted on a modern oak carriage at Bunratty castle courtyard.
